I am thankful

I am thankful for this day I have been given to make of myself what I choose.

I am thankful for those friends around me.

I am thankful for those I am able to support.

I am thankful for those who support me.

I am thankful for the 6 areas of my life I can grow in - Mental, Physical, Spiritual, Family, Financial, Social.

I am thankful for the life I have lived to date - for the opportunities I have been given, the ones I will be given, and especially for those I have in front of me right now.

Life is choices - I am thankful I have choices in front of me.

I am thankful for the water I drink, the food I eat, for my shelter, warmth, clothing and care.

I make of this day a life I am proud to be part of.

How do I craft an exceptional life? by Robin Sharma

How do I craft an exceptional life? Ultimately, life goes by in a blink.
Might I live the same year 80 times.
To avoid getting to the end and perhaps feeling flooded with regret over a live half-lived, I read (and then apply) these tips:
  1. I exercise daily.
  2. I am serious about gratitude.
  3. I see my work as a craft.
  4. I expect the best and prepare for the worst.
  5. I keep a journal.
  6. I plan a schedule for my week.
  7. I know the 5 highest priorities of my life.
  8. I say YES to staying on task.
  9. I drink a lot of water.
  10. I improve my work every single day.
  11. I have a mentor.
  12. I have a paid coach.
  13. I get up at 6am each day.
  14. I eat only the food my body needs.
  15. I identify heroes that move me.
  16. I am a hero to someone.
  17. I smile at strangers.
  18. I am the most ethical person I know.
  19. I only "settle" for excellence.
  20. I savour life’s simple pleasures.
  21. I save 10% of my income each month.
  22. I spend time at art galleries.
  23. I walk in the woods.
  24. I write "thank you" letters to those who’ve helped me.
  25. I forgive those who’ve wronged me.
  26. I live that leadership is about influence and impact, not title and accolades.
  27. I create unforgettable moments with those I love.
  28. I have 5 great friends.
  29. I am stunningly polite.
  30. I unplug my TV.
  31. I read daily.
  32. I avoid the news.
  33. I am content with what I have.
  34. I pursue my dreams.
  35. I am authentic.
  36. I am passionate.
  37. say sorry when I know I should.
  38. I grasp every moment to celebrate another person.
  39. I have a vision for my life.
  40. I know my strengths.
  41. I focus my mind on the plenty rather than the lack.
  42. I am patient.
  43. I always keep going – there is ALWAYS something left.
  44. I clean up my messes.
  45. I use impeccable words.
  46. I travel.
  47. I honour my parents.
  48. I am a great teammate.
  49. I give none of my energy to critics.
  50. I spend time in the mountains.
  51. I know my top 5 values.
  52. I focus on achieving results rather than simply being busy.
  53. I innovate and iterate.
  54. I speak less. I listen more.
  55. I am the best person I know.
  56. I make my life matter.

In order for people to eventually look up to me, I am best served to be reaching higher.

Make someone happy?

Absolute contradiction.

A person is happy because happiness springs from them like water from a well.

A person cannot be “made” to be happy – it is either within them or not.

I have to have decided that I will look on the positive side, do positive things and think positive thoughts.

No-one can COMPEL me to do those things and be internally driven.

INTERNAL DRIVE, rather than "External Direction" is the key.

I cannot compel another. When their life script is all about suffering and what isn’t and doesn’t work that is who they are choosing to be.

Not only is there nothing I can do to directly change that, there should be no expectation that it must change.

A person is entitled to live their life as they choose.

If it doesn’t fit in with me or suit me, then I have the right and responsibility to make other choices.

What is love?

The Ultimate Secrets of Total Self-Confidence - Dr Robert Anthony

MENTAL MAGNETISM

No person is what they think they are; but what they think, they are.

Magnets have their molecules aligned - pulling power is “unity of purpose.”

Law of Mental Magnetism always attracts my true wants - not my wishes, whims or passing fancies.

What I give my dominant attention to will be mine through the Law of Mental Magnetism - constructive thought patterns, or otherwise...

Positive energy creates!

Creative mind; power centre; transcendental power; universal mind; unlimited wisdom - it does exist and it has unlimited power. God, within.

Desire is the seed of fulfilment.

ASK: -
Is this a wise or unwise act?
Will it contribute to my basic needs?
Will it harm me or someone else?
What is the total price I must pay?
Is it in harmony with the Laws of the Universe, as I understand them?
Am I willing and able to pay this price and accept the consequences?

GOAL ACTION PLAN

1. This is my goal (brief description; sketch; picture)

2. Why do I want this? How will I benefit?

3. What actions can I take to reach my goal?

4. Where can I get competent assistance and guidance?

5. Date I began my plan!

6. Date of intended completion!

7. I will revise and review on the following dates!

8. What should I do first? Second? (check when started or finished)
A. _____________________________Started [ ] Finished [ ]
B. _____________________________Started [ ] Finished [ ]
C. _____________________________Started [ ] Finished [ ]

9. I keep the following positive mental attitude during this period (a positive statement concerning how I feel I must act whilst I am working on my goal).

TRAIN RIDE

1. Decide to get on the train - choose goal

2. Best route to destination - plan

3. Buy a ticket - be willing to pay the price.

4. Get on the train - take action

Stick with the journey!

GOAL SCREENING

1. Do I really want this for myself (rather than something I think I should, or ought to, do)?

2. Is it right according to my value system?

3. Do I believe it is possible for me?

4. Will I be a better person when I accomplish it?

5. Can I visualize it in all respects?

6. Do I have complete faith that the Creative Intelligence within me will assist me in bringing forth my desire?

YES TO ALL, then:

a) Clear statement of my goal - subconscious needs specificity!

b) Have an exact date to begin my program.

c) Have an exact date by which I want to achieve my goal.

d) Have a written plan of action

e) Have a schedule to periodically review my plans for changes and updates.

e) Carry a brief statement of my goal written on a small card in my pocket or wallet. Look at it often each day. Have pictures of goal as well.

f) Concentrate on one specific desire or challenge at a time.

g) Make up a positive affirmation or statement about my goal.

h) I always go to sleep picturing my goal.

POSITIVE HABIT CONDITIONING

STEP 1
A. What negative habit do I desire to replace?
B. What positive habit or attitude will I develop to replace it?
C. What actions will I take to replace my negative habit?
D. What is the easiest and most logical way to do this?

STEP 2
A. I visualize myself as having already succeeded in changing that habit! I see myself as already enjoying the benefits of my new positive habit!
B. I use a positive affirmation along with my visualization!

STEP 3
I observe my actions and note each time I do other than what I have promised myself I will do. Rather than condemn or scold myself, I simply make a non-judgmental observation and allow myself to make the necessary correction.

STEP 4
keep a record for at least 21 days.

I am causing my automatic mechanism to respond in the way I have conditioned myself to FEEL and ACT!

I monitor my responses and habit patterns and: -
1. Remove anything in my life that is not working for my good.
2. See what is working for me and continue to program that into my subconscious.
3. Add new things that I find desirable that are likely to work for me.

Keep uppermost in my mind: -
A. I recognize and accept the fact that I have a non-constructive habit - I place no value or judgement on myself.
B. Before I change the habit, I weigh the potential benefits against the price I will have to pay for replacing it.
C. I understand and acknowledge that no amount of willpower is of any use unless I really want to replace the habit.
D. I am convinced that such change will bring about the gratification of a particular need or desire.
E. Up until now, I have only done what my level of awareness has enabled me to do. There is no blame, guilt, or condemnation associated with that - there is simply the opportunity for increased awareness.
I KEEP MY DOMINANT THOUGHTS FOCUSED ON WHAT I WANT......

Stores memories and releases them under automatic control.

Automatic creative mechanism that can solve my problems and change my life much faster than my conscious mind.

Not limited - can be trained and retrained.

Picture what I want and my subconscious will learn from errors, change my course, correct itself and bring me right on target - like a torpedo programmed to seek out an objective! Automatically!

KEY is for me to picture the END RESULT; FEEL that I can get what I want; FEEL it is already mine; FEEL the enjoyment and excitement NOW! Get the deep down inside feeling that ALREADY WORKING!

DIARY of GUILT
Guilt is a construct of humankind – it does not exist outside of us.
Keep a record: -
1. Every time I try to make someone else feel guilty.
2. Every time someone tries to make me feel guilty.
3. Every time I try to make myself feel guilty.
Then reduce these occurrences and set myself free from this behaviour. Guilt has no place in the present – I am creating the future of my choice.

Internally Driven

The focus of success is on being INTERNALLY DRIVEN - rather than externally directed.
Internally driven means that the stimulus is irrelevant - it is the principles and values that drive a person.

By Bob Perks
Sometime back I spoke to a group and I showed them pictures of some very famous people.

They included Thomas Edison, Cher, Walt Disney, Richard Branson, Jay Leno, Whoopi Goldberg, Ted Turner and my hero Winston Churchill.

Then I asked the audience what they all had in common. Can you guess?

They were all dyslexic!

I pointed out that the role that made each of them famous also required a lot of reading. Do you know how hard it is for a dyslexic person to read?

But not a single one of those great people that I cited let dyslexia keep them from being all they were created to be.

That's why one of my most favourite quotes is,

"It's not what you are that holds you back; it’s what you think you are not."

"There is no failure. Only feedback." ~ Unknown

The extent to which I BELIEVE this and implement it determines my life's path.

My Principles, Values and Goals determine my present.

YOU ARE NO DIFFERENT

By Bob Perks

Earlier this evening I was inspired by this thought as I listened to a minister speak at the annual Red Cross dinner my wife and I attended.  As usual I made a few quick notes to keep the thought alive and help me to remember exactly what I wanted to share with you. I tucked it away in my suit jacket with plans to write this "tomorrow sometime."

I was driven out of bed.  It's 12:23 a.m.

Picture in your mind the most incredible thing designed by mankind that you have ever seen.  Perhaps the Empire State Building; the Shuttle built by the technicians at NASA; the Golden Gate Bridge; or even the intricate detailing in a painting you've seen.

What name comes to mind when I say the words "creative genius?"

Who do you think of when I mention God-like compassion, caring and loving?

What author's name do you think of when I mention "poetry,""drama," "mystery," "fiction," and "comedy?"

What do you see when I say "strength," and "stamina?"

Finally, who do you picture as "winner;" "successful;" or "role model?"

I'll bet you a Kids Meal at McDonald's you never saw yourself in any of those images.

And yet...

Look at your hands. Are they not the same as the hands of the skilful artist, architect, mason, or technician?

If you were to x-ray your skull, would you not find the same brain matter that took up the space between the ears of Einstein, Plato, and Disney?

Hold your hand to your chest.  Can you feel the beat of a heart capable of paining for the homeless and starving? Have you not the same heart that beat in the chest of Jesus, Gandhi, Mohamed, Mother Teresa, or the thousands of other missionaries around the world?

Look at your fingers.  Are they not like the fingers of Frost, Churchill, Stevens, Wilder and King that held tightly the pens that wrote the words that shaped the world?

Look at your feet.  Show me the difference between yours and gold medallists of the Olympics or the rescuers who carried the people out of the rubble in Taiwan's tragic earthquake.

Finally.  Close your eyes as you stand in front of a mirror and picture in your mind that man or woman who you think of as a success, a winner and role model.  Open your eyes and explain to me the difference between you and that person. Take notes.

There is no difference...except in how you perceive yourself.

You have the mind, the hands, the feet, the fingers, the heart to be exactly what you want to be.  The only thing that is stopping you is HOW YOU SEE the person in the mirror.

Action starts attraction - be the person you want to be. Do a little something right now.

You have all that it takes.

It's 1:18 A.M. I can sleep now.

The rest is, as always, within you.

Regina Brett - a 90 year old

Written by Regina Brett, 90 years old, of the Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio .

"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most requested column I've ever written.

My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Your job probably won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month - put aside 10% of your take home before you pay everyone else.

6. Arguments almost never have a winner. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God. She can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past and live in the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Why compare your life to others? You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, should you be in it?

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. God never blinks.

16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger. Trick is to keep moving forward.

19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, why take no for an answer?

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Why save it for a special occasion? Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Why wait for old age to wear purple?

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you - take it over.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive everyone everything.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Why take yourself so seriously? No one else does.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

35. Why audit life? Show up and make the most of it now.

36. Growing old beats the alternative - dying young.

37. Children get only one childhood.

38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

42. The best is yet to come...

43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

44. Yield.

45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift."

Value vs Price

Price is only ever an issue in the absence of value.

What is success?

“To LAUGH OFTEN and LOVE MUCH; to win the RESPECT of intelligent persons and the AFFECTION of children; to APPRECIATE BEAUTY; to find THE BEST IN OTHERS; to GIVE OF ONE'S SELF; to leave THE WORLD A BIT BETTER to have PLAYED AND LAUGHED WITH ENTHUSIASM and SUNG WITH EXULTATION; to know EVEN ONE LIFE has BREATHED EASIER because you have lived; this is to have succeeded!” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
